1/2cuphigh-quality semisweet or milk chocolate chips
2tablespoonshot cocoa mixregular or dark chocolate
2tablespoonsgranulated sugaradjust to taste
3cupsice cubes
1/2teaspoonvanilla extractoptional
ToppingsOptional:
Whipped cream
Chocolate shavings or sprinkles
Mini marshmallows
Instructions
Melt Chocolate:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips with 1/4 cup of the milk, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat.
Cool Slightly:
Let the melted chocolate mixture cool for about 5 minutes so it doesn't melt the ice during blending.
Blend:
In a blender, combine the remaining 3/4 cup milk, cocoa mix, sugar, vanilla (if using), ice cubes, and the cooled melted chocolate mixture. Blend on high until smooth and frosty.
Serve:
Pour into tall glasses and top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or marshmallows, if desired.
